TASK: to design a hypothetical band poster for a big Canberra music festival. This particular gig is the finale concert, and there is a wide array of talent playing all afternoon. There are 8 bands: the most famous is an international superband, and the least famous is a local band. You can choose the bands and the genres (they can be metal, folk, electronic, grunge, pop, etc, or a heady mix of styles). You need to work out the information priorities and design the poster suitably.
For this project I kept things simple and focused on the importance of information hierarchy and aesthetic. I created a watercolour gradient background to add to the uplifting vibe of the music festival. I used white text in all sans serif typefaces in all capitals to maintain clarity, bold block typefaces to highlight important headings and a lighter weight for other information. I used a drop shadow to emphasise the concert title and outer glow effects for the main headings.
