I have designed my information pack for the Karen refugees coming to Australia from Myanmar. My information pack design is friendly, welcoming, and useful in helping to create a sense of identity and familiarity for the user.
My Karen refugee information pack consists of 3 x A5 Information Booklets and an A3 fold out map packaged in a B5 folder. This size is ideal for being easy to travel with and can still fit in a bag. The pack is simple to navigate and keep together in the folder.
Based on my research findings, I haves gotten inspiration to use the traditional Karen clothing the longyi (sarong), with their vibrant colours and intricately woven patterns as part of my design. As well as the line patterns on the Karen frog drum. From this I have created a geometric diamond based pattern used as a cover for the booklets. Using familiar symbols and colours will help the Karen refugees to connect to the design.
The following is my design of the contents of the Canberra Area Opportunity Guide booklet. The information is all real which I researched and compiled myself, and the town centre map I designed myself.
